Rice bale shaped Silla bottle, circa 800 A.D.

Item Number: #2805    Price: $ 700.00

A really early example of the well-known rice bale form bottle, this example dates to the Unified Silla dynasty. Its gray body has been impressed with slanting bands of tiny squares extending to below the domed top. The extensive rust-toned areas are from partial immersion in water for a very long time. It is 32cm high X 19.5cm wide, or 12.25 inches X 7.75 inches to include the flared spout. The surface has been worn in spots and there is a chip to the spout rim.
